Mean, median, mode, again?
Is it just me or does it seem like we have been talking about mean median and mode for FOREVER in this class? I guess it could be because we started before Mardi Gras and just finished up with it (hopefully) today. I feel like ch. 4 could have been much more interesting had S&R actually given some more examples of the usefulness of the more advanced mathematical techniques. Right now it seems like there is an innundation of concepts with little practical focus. As I say this I know I am going to get to the homework and that will be a big help, but moral of the story is I am very much looking forward to moving on and getting down to more of the dirty work and less of the conceptual algebra.

it's not just you.
the early (and long) mardi gras break didn't help things, but, yeah, i agree that in the future we should probably do this material in combination with the JV chapter in one class session. although that means a great deal of reading/preparation for a single class.
what do you think? is that do-able?
anyway, the next two classes should be very much more "dirty work". i think you'll like them.
is it just me, or are others wondering why they are taking a class which is explaining how to take an average in a uber complicated way? I mean come on.
now that its march I'm getting the impression that the Mean, Median, and Mode are actually really important for the rest of the course. I'm just psyched that I dont have to calculate anything by hand anymore!
